ILT Capstone

Once learners complete the eLearning portion of the course, they finish up the blended learning experience with this ILT (instructor-led training) Capstone. In my initial survey of the learners, they overwhelmingly preferred a blended approach to their training, so this ILT was an important piece from the very beginning.

The strength of an ILT lies in its atmosphere of interactive social learning. Wanting to leverage this, I plugged several ILT websites and articles into NotebookLM and prompted it to suggest some interactive activities based on my content and on the ideal size of the group. This was helpful in guiding my thinking, so I took some ideas, modified them a bit, and sprinkled some engaging learning activities throughout the ILT.

The Mentor Toolkit resources provide the basis for learners to review and recall the prior eLearning content, and then two realistic scenarios allow them to put their knowledge and skills into practice. After completing the ILT there is also a follow-up journaling exercise in their participant guide, which encourages integration of all they've learned into their Mentor/Mentee relationships.
